          The Dunegrass Boys

The Dunegrass Boys originated in Matunuck Beach around 2003 when the open mike at the Joyce Family Pub was hosted by Eric Neff.  I had recently moved to Rhode Island from New Hamphire and looking to continue with my passion for playing Bluegrass when I was pointed towards the beach, where I found The Joyce Pub, some great pickers, and some dunegrass before it was washed out in a big storm a few years later.  The early Dunegrass Boys were a pick-up band of players primary from the Joyce open-mike.  Over the years the players that have been honorary Dunegrass Boys have hailed from Maine, Massachussetts, and Rhode Island. I still pull a bluegrass band together whenever there is an event that is oriented towards it and it is always a pleasure to get back to my grassy roots.

The list of players over the years that have been a Dunegrass Boy, and could be again, goes like this: Eric Neff - RI - Fiddle, Mandolin, Guitar, and Vocal / Tom Donovan - RI - Banjo / Michael Boulay - RI - Guitar, Mandolin, and Vocal / Dan Gannon - RI - Fiddle and Vocal / Tim Flynn - RI - Guitar and Vocal / Mark Gibbs - MA - Guitar, Dobro, Banjo, and Vocal / Terry Spearrin - ME - Bass and Vocals / Chris Heinzmann - Fiddle / Matt Carlen - MA - Guitar, Mandocello, and Vocals / Mike Fishman - RI - Guitar, Mandolin, Bass, and Vocal, Tim May - Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, and Vocal / Gil Pope - Guitar, Bass, and Vocal / and myself - RI - Guitar, Mandolin, and Vocal.
